Our journey into healthcare

Care providers must remember what they stand for, and what they strive to achieve. These 10 values represent what HOPE stands for, highlighting core principles that have unfortunately become uncommon and undervalued in the care system.

The verbosity of manifestos often detracts from the central message.

We believe that mental care relies on a very simple formulae:
Hope Healthcare Group

Our services

Hope Pathways was developed with the intention to deliver maximum value to residents, staff and stakeholders by drawing on proven clinical research. We believe in the intrinsic ability of our residents to become the best versions of themselves regardless of their specific clinical challenges. In particular, Hope specialises in the following areas:

Emotional Behavioural Disorder (Ages 12-18)

At Hope we work to ensure that our young people not only receive the clinical support and guidance they need but also learn critical life and social skills to help them thrive in later life. Our homes provide residential and therapeutic support to young people struggling with EBD. Each resident can expect to receive their own en-suite bedroom and personal space to live in comfortably. With the support of our in-house team working in conjunction with the local authority, each resident will be equipped with their own specialised pathway plan aimed to decrease dependence and improve individual autonomy.

The Pathway Approach

Pathway methodology documents the best practice in care for a targeted group of patients.

"The difference to a young person between having no pathway plan or a bad pathway plan, to having a lawful, detailed plan, is enormous..." - Oliver Studdert (Maxwell Gillott Solicitors)

Adult Mental Health (Ages 18+)

Hope offers support to individuals who have been diagnosed with mild to moderate mental health illnesses ranging from depression and anxiety to eating disorders. Most individuals who experience these categories of mental illness endure short episodes and are able to resume their ordinary life relatively quickly. Whether short-term or long-term, we are on-hand to ensure that individual needs are properly addressed and that a clear step-down pathway plan has been implemented before patients are discharged.

At all times, we work to ensure that patients are treated with dignity, respect and compassion but we also go the extra mile to ensure our patients enjoy their residency to the best of their ability. We offer a range of leisure, educational and social activities to all residents within a safe and nurturing environment. Our homes also provide24-hour supervision by trained medical staff.

Low Secure

Patients who are referred to low secure mental health services often pose a risk to themselves and others. In particular they maybe suffering from personality disorders or neuro developmental disorders which require medical intervention. We adhere to a strict code of conduct and although physical restraint may be necessary at times, it will always be employed as a last resort.

We have developed our four-stage process in line with NHS general guidance:

  1. Referral & Assessment
  2. Pre-Admission (initial introduction)
  3. Admission, Care & Treatment
  4. Discharge

On discharge, each resident will receive a community pathway plan issued by the same clinical team that have managed the patient’s development at the residence to ensure continuity and to chart steady and realistic progression. Hope accepts patient referrals from high secure services, the wider community and from Adolescent Mental Health Services.

Vulnerable Adults

Safeguarding adults means protecting a person’s right to live in safety, free from abuse and neglect (Care Act, 2014).

This definition applies to any individual over 18 years of age who has been unable to protect themselves from exploitation or abuse due to mental illness, disability or impairment. The abuse may be deliberate or due to neglect and maybe the result of a single event or repeated episodes.

As highlighted by the NHS, abuse may cover any of the following:

  • Neglect
  • Bullying
  • Financial
  • Sexual
  • Physical
  • Psychological
  • Discrimination
  • Institutional

At Hope, we accept referrals involving all types of abuse with a view to reinstating an individual’s personal sense of autonomy and implementing safeguarding measures in a preventative and proportionate manner.

Foster Care

Foster care offers children with a safe, secure environment in situations where their biological parents cannot look after them. Foster carers offer accommodation on either a permanent or temporary basis and must register with either a fostering agency or with the Local Authority.

In the UK, there are approximately 100, 000 children in care however there is an increasing shortage of foster carers. To accommodate each child’s unique care needs, there are a variety of foster homes available which include: short-term fostering, planned fostering, parent & child fostering, remand fostering, emergency fostering and many more.

Despite negative connotations associated with the care system, research carried out by the Hadley Centre for Adoption and Foster Care Studies highlighted that 83% of children believed their lives were improving in care.

We want to deliver maximum value to our residents

We believe in the intrinsic ability of our residents to become the best versions of themselves regardless of their specific clinical challenges.
